Neri’s oeuvre is best known for his life-size figurative sculptures in plaster, bronze, and marble. A leading figure of the Bay Area Figurative Movement during the 1960s, Neri’s work has been inspired by the expression of classical traditions found near his studio in Carrara, Italy. Over four decades, Neri has turned to one model, Mary Julia, capturing her form in timeless drawings and sculptures.
